Position Overview:
Bright School Jakarta is seeking a qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our growing Special Education Department. The successful candidate will support students with diverse learning needs through individualized, evidence-based, and Montessori-aligned instruction, while promoting independence, emotional regulation, and meaningful participation in school life.
This role requires at least one (1) year of experience managing a SPED classroom, strong collaboration skills, and a demonstrated willingness to learn, adapt, and implement varied instructional and behavioral strategies based on student needs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Education, or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year experience managing or co-managing a Special Education classroom
- Experience working with students with:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Learning disabilities
- Developmental delays
- Behavioral, emotional, or communication needs
- Basic knowledge of IEP development and implementation
- Willingness to learn and apply Montessori-aligned practices within SPED settings
- Strong classroom management and behavior support skills
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and ethical practice
Preferred Qualifications:
- Montessori training or experience (AMI/AMS or equivalent – preferred but not required)
- Experience with:
- Tiered Support / MTSS
- Positive Behavior Support (PBS / PBIS)
- Functional behavior strategies
- Visual supports and structured teaching
- Experience collaborating with therapists (Speech, OT, Behavior/ABA)
- Experience in inclusive or blended learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Deliver structured, individualized instruction aligned with Montessori and SPED principles
- Manage daily SPED classroom routines, schedules, and work cycles
- Implement behavior support, emotional regulation, and functional skill strategies
- Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and interventions
- Collaborate with:
- Montessori and mainstream teachers
- SPED Coordinators and Department Head
- Therapists and specialists
- Communicate student progress clearly and professionally with families
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and progress monitoring records
- Uphold all safeguarding, confidentiality, and child protection policies
